BR- 3/31

Our next chapter is on Civil Rights. Do you think racism is still an issue in 2014? Write one paragraph.

Racism will always be an issue. There's no way to avoid it, to a certain degree everybody is a little racist. I believe that racism is only such a big deal today is because it gets glorified. You always hear about racism through lectures in school, public speakers, even on national news. The only way racism will become less of a problem, it won't go away completely, is to just quit talking about. Let those who hate, hate. Leave them alone. No matter what you say or do to that individual because of his racist beliefs, nothing will change his mind. He believes the way he believes based upon his own manifestations. The only way he will no longer be racist is if that individual makes some kind of spontaneous decision that the world, and the people in it, are different than formally believed. Bottom line, leave everyone be. We have more important things to worry about. The "minorities" are well taken care of, in fact you will often hear people proclaim that the white man is the minority in today's society. In a way, I sort of agree.

BR 3/27/14

The American people should decide our justices. If we leave the decisions to a select people, tyranny becomes a conflict in which we must face. In other words the Supreme Court Justices should not serve for life, by no means. The supreme court justices should be tossed out the door at the same time the president is.

supreme court stuff

This case is was supposed to be heard yesterday. Religious freedom means that each individual has the right to exercise their own beliefs and the right not to have others’ beliefs forced upon them. We believe no employer has the right to deny the women who work for them basic health care. Individuals must have the right to accept or reject the principles of their own faith without legal restrictions. People feel religion is being forced upon them and that they do not have the freedom to express their own religion.

Arizona’s controversial immigration law, SB1070, reviewed by the court in Arizona v. U.S. to determine whether states have any authority to enforce immigration matters or whether only the federal government has such authority. Arizona doesn't like illegal immigrants and would like to take matters into their own hands.

Abbeville

physical science some people feel this is outrageous.

677 judges which handle 350,000 cases per year.
12 judicial districts in the United States which are broken down by population.
multi-judge courts mean more than one judge will view a case.
District courts do not hear cases within original jurisdiction of the supreme court.
A civil case usually deals with money, a criminal case deals with felonies or misdemeanors.
Court of appeals was created by congress. has 6-28 judges.

¨Judicial restraint- believe that judges should decide cases on the basis of (1) original intent of the Framers or those who enacted the statue(s) involved in a case, and (2) precedent- a judicial decision that serves as a guide for settling later cases of a similar nature.

The   The constitution explains what the powers of this branch are. They should be limited to the powers given to them by the constitution only, it should not be "Constitution and in statue law should be interpreted and applied in the light of ongoing changes" the standards are already in black and white.they should not be further "interpreted." That just creates situations for people to find a slight loophole to gain more power.
