State Data Sheet

Every new Senator makes an introductory speech to the Senate.  In order to speak effectively and identify the state-focused issue on which you will concentrate, you will need to collect some data about your state.  The more you know, the more effective you should be in addressing the real needs of your state.  The information you gather should also help you to create your campaign poster and organize your introductory speech to the Senate.

Consider the following list of items to be “basic.”  The list is NOT intended to be all-inclusive.  Any other pertinent information you find should be included at the end of the list.  Note that “RANK” (see below) means national rank, i.e., out of the 50 states.  Use almanacs, encyclopedias (NOT Wikipedia), the Internet, etc. to find this information.  See the back for suggested sources.
